While dancing in crowded venues it is easy to get sweaty. Following these simple guidelines will help ensure everyone has an enjoyable time. We have created a handy guide to the expected etiquette at all of our events. WHAT IS THE ETIQUETTE AT DANCES AND IN CLASSES? Otherwise, we accept cash and most major credit cards at the door. Plus, we have limited spots due to COVID mitigation. Preregistration isn't mandatory, but you do get a nice discount by preregistering online. If you have leather soled shoes, maybe bring a back up in case you think the floor is a bit too slick. We suggest comfortable clothes that you can move around in, and non-marking flat shoes that will stay on your feet (open backed shoes or flip flops don’t work well.) Followers don’t generally wear heels in Lindy. Lindy Hop is a casual dance, and it’s also quite athletic. While each of these dances are distinct, today most swing dancers are familiar with and dance all of them. We teach a variety of swing-era dances such as Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa.
In later levels or workshop offerings, we’d like offer other dance styles like Balboa, Collegiate Shag, or more Vernacular Jazz. In our Beginner class we start with Lindy Hop with maybe some Charleston mixed in. The term “Swing” refers to a number of different dance styles that evolved in the swing era and are rooted in swing music. We currently offer Beginner and Intermediate levels. We have found that by rotating our students learn much faster. We rotate partners in all of our classes so that students get experience dancing with a variety of people. You cannot join after the second week, so you’d have to stay tuned for our next session! DO I NEED A PARTNER? Yes, you can join the second week of a series! Intermediate classes will be from 6:30 - 7:45p.m. Save $$ when you register for the full session of Beginner Lindy Hop. Our next inclusive and friendly beginner classes run in a 4-week progressive series starting October 5-26 Wednesday nights at 7:45 p.m. We rotate during the class so that you have a chance to meet and dance with many different people.
